Since 1984, the Hospital Hospitality House (HHH) has been providing lodging and non-medical services for patients and families in medical crisis who due to distance, transportation, or financial concerns would not be able to obtain medical care. VDOE in collaboration with a number of military authorities, provides resources concerning children of mobilized military personnel for families and educators. The Virginia Council on the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunitu for Military Children was formed to assist in easing the transition of the children of military families into school as a result of frequent moves and deployment of their parents. The Compact addresses such issues as the timely enrollment of children of military families, proper placement, on-time graduation and other issues affecting the children of military families.
